Maddy (Allee Sutton Hethcoat) and Lupe (Briza Covarrubias) are like Thelma & Louise

What an intriguing, deep story set in the stunning desert country with a strong, if unknown, cast which makes “Alta Valley” an even more fantastic independent film find.

Jesse Edwards is the writer and director of this neo-Western where the women are the heroes, and the Mexican-Navajo culture and way of life are the backdrops to the story.

Lupe, played by a strong actress Briza Covarrubias, is off to save her dying mother who needs $50 grand to get treatments she needs for her brain tumor. She is going to visit a father that she doesn’t know.

Along the way, she finds herself in the middle of a confrontation with a blonde cowgirl named Maddy who is down on her luck after not quite scoring in the bull-riding competition she was hoping to win…
